The Music The Contract
The Music

Q: I want a special piece that is not originally scored for a chamber ensemble. Is this possible?
A: Yes, we can arrange music for a small additional payment.

Q: Do I have to choose all of the pieces that you will be performing?
A: No. You let the ensemble member know the mood you would like to create, and we will plan the prelude or cocktail hour music accordingly. We will assist you in the selection of ceremony or other music for the first dance, etc.

Q: I heard the Pachelbel Canon in D on a CD. It was faster than your Demo CD. Can you play it that way?
A: Yes. Since you are using live musicians, many versions of the same selection are possible. Changing the speed to suit your wishes is a simple and effective way to create ambience. The volume can also be altered for special moments. For example, we can play a piece for the bridal party that can swell to a lush climax for the bride's procession.

The Contract

Q: I am a punctual person but what if we run late?
A: We have a set overtime rate payable in cash at the close of the event.

Q: Do you take breaks?
A: For one hour engagements, (i.e. ceremonies or cocktail hours) no. For engagements lasting over one hour, we generally take ten minutes per hour, although the schedule of our breaks can be arranged between the Amaryllis Ensemble and the client. For long events (Over 3 1/2 hours), a brief meal break is also required.

Q: Do the musicians need to eat?
A: Generally not, although non-alcoholic drinks are requested. For performances over 3 1/2 hours, we ask that a meal be served.

Q: What do you wear?
A: Usually formal concert dress-all black/tuxedo or black and white, but for outdoor weddings we have been known to wear floral dresses and dark suits.

Q: My wedding is taking place in two locations. Is that possible for you?
A: Absolutely-our set-up time is under 10 minutes.

Q: Do you play outdoors?
A: Yes, but not below 60 degrees or over 90 degrees, and never in rain or direct sun. This is for the protection of our instruments.

Q: What logistical information do I need?
A: We need an armless chair for each musician at each location. The Amaryllis Ensemble also likes to receive travel directions and repertoire information one week in advance. Our deposit is due when the contract is returned. We accept personal checks for the deposit. If final payment is received one week in advance of date, we will also accept a personal check. If final payment is made at event, then we accept cash, tellers or certified check, or money order.
